How Vanitypad works.
You pick the last 3 to 5 characters of your coin's address. We grind a mint key whose address ends that way, and you launch the coin on pump.fun from your own wallet. Everything below is what the service actually does.
How it works
- Type your ending. 3 to 5 base58 characters. Base58 has no 0, O, I or l, so the page refuses them on the spot. Pick Exact (the case you typed) or Any case (cheaper, the casing comes out random).
- See the quote before paying. Expected tries, the time to grind at the grinder's live rate, and the price.
- Get the key. Short endings are ground in under a second, popular ones come from a pre-ground pool, longer ones are ground on our CPU after a prepay.
- Launch. Your wallet builds and signs the pump.fun launch first. The service checks the transaction, adds the one signature of the mint key and sends it. You are the creator; the creator fees of the coin are yours.
Prices
| Tier | When | Payment | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instant | up to 750,000 expected tries (3 characters, 4 any case with paired letters) | inside the launch tx | 0.02 SOL |
| Ready key | a pre-ground key for a popular ending | inside the launch tx | 0.05 SOL |
| Queued | up to 25,000,000 tries (4 exact, 5 any case) | prepaid to the ops wallet | 0.05 SOL |
| Long | up to 700,000,000 tries (5 exact) | prepaid to the ops wallet | 0.3 SOL |
| 6+ characters | hours of CPU | - | not sold |
The pump.fun side (rent, network fees, your dev buy) is paid by your wallet as on pump.fun itself, about 0.025 SOL plus the dev buy. A dev buy is capped at 20 SOL.
Timing, from our own measurements
An address is random base58, so an ending of n characters shows up once every 58n tries on average. Any case halves that for every letter that has two forms.
| Ending | Expected tries | p50 | p90 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 characters | 195,112 | < 1 s | < 1 s |
| 4 characters, exact | 11,316,496 | ~7 s | ~22 s |
| 5 characters, any case (letters with two forms) | 20,511,149 | ~12 s | ~39 s |
| 5 characters, exact | 656,356,768 | ~6 min | ~21 min |
| 6 characters | 38,068,692,544 | hours | not sold |
Times are at the planning rate of 1.2M tries per second. Measured on our box: 1.52 to 1.64M tries/s on 16 threads when idle, 0.5 to 0.75M tries/s on 8 threads under load. The grinder runs at most 8 threads, so every quote uses the live 60 second rate while it runs and never promises a faster box. Status: checking.
A queued job never waits behind others: one grinder process tests every open ending on every try.
Trust
The key
- Encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, bound to the network, the address and its owner. The master key is a file outside the code and outside the database directory.
- Never leaves the service. No answer, page or log line carries a secret key. It is decrypted for one signature and the buffers are wiped.
- Signs only your launch. Before the mint key signs, the service checks the transaction: exactly two signers (your wallet first, then the mint), only the frozen pump lookup table, and only these instructions in this order: compute budget, pump create_v2 of this mint with you as creator, an optional dev buy by you, and the fee transfer to the treasury (none when prepaid). Then it simulates. Anything else is refused.
- One key, one mint, then deleted. A key is sold once. The moment the launch confirms, the row holding it is erased (the database runs with secure delete).
Your SOL
- Instant and ready keys: the fee is a transfer inside the same launch transaction. No launch, no fee.
- Queued grinds are prepaid to the ops wallet with a memo of your order. If no key turns up within 5x the expected tries (counted, not clocked), the prepay is refunded automatically. You can cancel with a signed message before the key is found: the refund is the share of the work not done yet (price x tries left / expected tries), so a fresh grind comes back almost in full; once less than 0.001 SOL would come back, cancel is off and the key or the automatic refund follows. A second payment for the same order is refunded in full too.
- The service has no key to your wallet: it cannot move your SOL. Creator fees of your coin are yours; we never touch them.
What you trust us with
- We hold the mint key until you launch, so in theory we could refuse service or launch an unlaunched key ourselves.
- The ops wallet is a hot wallet with a published refund rule, not an escrow program. Its balance is checked against open orders.
Limits
- A key for an instant or ready ending is held for your wallet for 120 seconds. If it runs out, the page holds a fresh one when you launch.
- One paid grind per wallet at a time, up to 3 open quotes; a wallet may hold up to 3 keys. The grind queue has a capacity of one hour of CPU; when it is full, try Any case or a ready ending.
- Per network per day: 20 holds, 10 instant grinds, 10 orders, 10 metadata uploads; 20 launch signatures and payment checks per minute.
